This is the first time the 'Miss South India' pageant, organised by Pegasus, is foraying into Tamil Nadu and 16 contestants from the four southern states will walk down the ramp for the grand finale, Ajit Ravi, Chairman, Pegasus, told reporters here today.
The pageant is aimed at discovering the freedom of expression and talent of the women of India. Unlike some other pageants, this one will not showcase skin of women, like the bikini event, he said.
The event would reflect the culture and tradition of India in its truest colour and showcase South India in its entire splendour, its exciting blend of culture, tourist destinations and natural beauty, he said.
Besides the title winners, the other regional titles include Miss Queen Andhra, Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu, with subtitles like Miss beautiful hair, beautiful smile, beautiful skin, face, eyes, congeniality and personality, Ajit Ravi said.
The winners will get a gold plated crown designed by Prakash Parakkat, with title winner getting Rs one lakh, first runner-up and second runner-up Rs 50,000 and Rs 25,000 respectively.
