Twenty-six-year old Denise Garrido was so emotional after she was named Miss Universe Canada on Saturday that she nearly knocked her crown to the stage while blowing kisses to the crowd.
However, her reign was short-lived, as pageant officials announced that an employee putting the judges' scores into a computer made an error.
Garrido had not finished first, she had finished fourth, the third runner-up to Riza Santos of Calgary, who will soon collect her crown in Toronto.
"It's been the ultimate dream of mine," the champion beauty queen, who has taken titles at Miss Earth and Miss World competitions, said.

"All of the other pageants were building toward this one," she said.
Santos, also 26, who was initially named the first-runner up, was set to collect her crown in Toronto.
The error occurred when a rookie pageant worker messed up while putting the judges votes into a computer, pageant officials said.
"We would like to offer our sincere apology to Denise Garrido for this human error discovered while validating the results," pageant spokesman Andrew Lopez said in a statement on the Miss Universe Canada website.
As a consolation, the pageant said Garrido will make a few official appearances alongside Santos and will serve as a judge in the 2014 competition.
"I will always have the memory of being the 24-hour queen," Garrido said.
