According to the annual report prepared by the crime branch of Delhi Police, in most of the cases, the children go missing after being scolded by parents. Academic pressures, losing way and elopement are among the other reasons.
"The crime branch made continuous efforts to identify whether an organised gang was behind kidnapping of children, however no such gangs were found involved," the report said.
The report also stated that there was a fall in the number of missing children in the national capital in 2016 as compared to 2015.
The Delhi Police has also conducted a survey of children begging at busy intersections to find out whether they have been dragged into the act by any organised gang.
