The movie will also reunite the actor with Christopher McQuarrie, who directed him in 2012's 'Jack Reacher', the Hollywood Reporter said.
The script for the fifth edition in the franchise comes from Drew Pearce.
The 2015 year-end holiday is already jammed with high-profile tentpoles, led by 'Star Wars: Episode VII' (December 18). 'Inferno', the next installment in Sony's Dan Brown series, likewise is set to open December 18, along with Legendary and Universal's 'Warcraft'.
