The officials of St Capitaneo Higher Secondary School for Girls at Nagrakata about 70 km from here had lodged a complaint with the local Nagrakata police station on March 22 about anonymous threat letters received by the school, a senior district official said today.
Following the complaint lodged by the school, the Jalpaiguri Superintendent of Police, A Rabindranath, visited the school on March 24 and ordered posting of a police picket near the school, the official said.
Jalpaiguri District Magistrate Preetha Sarkar, who visited the missionary school yesterday, said: "The district administration had taken the threatening letter to the school seriously."
Father Motiyas Kerketta of St Capitaneo Higher Secondary School for Boys, which is situated adjacent to the Girls school, said: "The authorities of the St Capitaneo Higher Secondary School for Girls had received handwritten anonymous threatening letters."
