Missionary school at Nagrakata receive threat letters

A missionary school at Nagrakata in Jalapaiguri district has received anonymous threat letters prompting the authorities to beef up the security in the area.
The officials of St Capitaneo Higher Secondary School for Girls at Nagrakata about 70 km from here had lodged a complaint with the local Nagrakata police station on March 22 about anonymous threat letters received by the school, a senior district official said today.
Following the complaint lodged by the school, the Jalpaiguri Superintendent of Police, A Rabindranath, visited the school on March 24 and ordered posting of a police picket near the school, the official said.

The SP also ordered that security of the school be beefed up.
Jalpaiguri District Magistrate Preetha Sarkar, who visited the missionary school yesterday, said: "The district administration had taken the threatening letter to the school seriously."
Father Motiyas Kerketta of St Capitaneo Higher Secondary School for Boys, which is situated adjacent to the Girls school, said: "The authorities of the St Capitaneo Higher Secondary School for Girls had received handwritten anonymous threatening letters."

Nagrakata is a block under Malbazar sub-division of Jalpaiguri district.
On March 14, 71-year-old nun of a convent school at Ranaghat in Nadia district was allegedly gangraped by robbers. The accused also decamped with money from the school.

The West Bengal government has handed over the Ranaghat case to the CBI after the CID failed to make any breakthrough in the case.
