The country's largest integrated power company began its operations on February 9, 1915, by commissioning the country's first large hydroelectric project with a capacity of 12 MW at Khopoli near Mumbai.
"Tata Power commissioned its first hydro unit of 12 mw in 1915. Symbolically, in its 100th year, Tata Power commits to commission 120 mw of new hydro power project during 100th year itself," the company said in statement.
"In this centenary year, the company commits to develop 450 mw of clean power through hydel (same as its current existing capacity of 450 mw of hydel in Maharashtra) as its contribution to facilitate clean power for the nation. The company aims to commission 120 mw Hydel plant this year."
It also dedicated Tata Power Skill Development Institute and commits to train 2,00,000 skilled workforce by 2025 apart from committing to save Rs 100 crore through young students from its initiative Club Enerji, which is a national programme on energy and resource conservation.
