Mistry, accompanied by his predecessor Ratan Tata, Tata Steel Managing Director H M Nerurkar and a host of senior officials paid floral tribute to the great visionary, who paved the way for the development of an industrial India over a century ago.
Mistry and Tata also interacted with the company workers.
Later, a spectacular pageant was taken out by various departments of the company, as well as associated companies and social organisations, with attractive tableaus to mark the occasion.
In his maiden public address, Mistry said fulfilling the dreams of the founder would be his priority and he would continue to maintain the values and ideals propagated by Jamshetji.
Appreciating the well-maintained steel city, the Chairman said the city would remain important for the company, since it had its first steel plant here.
