Election authorities today slapped a notice on Madhusudan Mistry, Congress candidate from Vadodara, for allegedly making derogatory remarks against women.
Vadodara district election officer Vinod R Rao gave Mistry time till 5 pm on April 27 to explain his stand regarding the alleged remarks made against senior BJP leader Sushma Swaraj while responding to reporters few weeks back.
The BJP, in its complaint to the Election Commission, had sought action against the Congress leader alleging that Mistry's statement was "vulgar and intended to tarnish the image of a woman who herself is an elderly person".
Rao said it was "clearly a gender-insensitive answer violating the dignity of women", and violated the Model Code of Conduct and some sections of the IPC.
