The award -- comprising a memento, citation and Rs five lakh -- was presented to the actor by West Bengal Governor M K Narayanan.
Accepting the award, Mithun said he espoused Swami Vivekananda's teachings and believed "in winning by heart and not solely by mind".
Mithun bagged the national award thrice -- for Mrigaya (1976), Tahader Katha (1996) and Swami Vivekananda (1998).
Congratulating the 'Disco Dancer', Governor Narayanan said he was happy the business house, P C Chandra Group, decided to accord this recognition to the actor.
The group has also felicitated stalwarts like the late Ustad Bismillah Khan, Sunil Gavaskar and P T Usha in the past. PTI SUS NN
