Mixed day for Jeevan in Uzbekistan ATP Challenger

India's Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan knocked out third seed Russian Kravchuk Konstantin in a tough three-setter to enter the singles quarter-finals but had to endure defeat in the doubles at the ATP Karshi Challenger tournament here today.
Unseeded Jeevan, ranked 359, overcame the challenge of his rival placed 117 places above him in the ATP rankings 6-3 2-6 6-4 in the second round contest lasting one hour and 51 minutes.
Also moving to the last eight was Indian Davis Cupper Saketh Myneni, who beat giant killer from the Netherlands, Antal Van Der Duim, 7-6(4) 6-2 in his second round match.
Antal, ranked 318, had shocked second seed Filip Peliwo in the opening round of the USD 50,000 hard court event.
Jeevan next faces Russian qualifier Mikhail Ledovskikh while Myneni, ranked 348, takes on Nikoloz Basilashvili, ranked 294 from Georgia.
Later in the day, Jeevan and his Australian partner Chase Buchana lost 6-7(5) 3-6 to third seeds Saketh and James Cluskey in the quarter-finals.
Making an exit from the doubles was India's N Sriram Balaji with second seeded Taipei partner Ti Chen. They suffered a 3-6 6-4 6-10 defeat at the hands of China's Mao-Xin Gong and Taipei's Hsien-Yin Peng.
Divij Sharan, who is playing with Liang-Chi Huang made the semifinals with a 6-2 7-5 win over Antal and his Dutch teammate Boy Westerhof. They will take on Gong and Peng for a place in the final.
