Mixed trend prevails in Chennai foodgrains market

: A mixed trend ruled as prices of three commodities rose while two others declined in the wholesale foodgrain market here today.
Prices of gram dal, urad dal and wheat increased, while thoor dal and moong dal declined at the opening of the week. Maida, sooji and sugar prices remained unchanged from previous close.
Urad dal firmed up by Rs.200 per quintal to Rs.8,400 while gram dal was dearer by Rs 100 per quintal at Rs 4,500. Wheat opened Rs 50 higher per quintal at Rs 2,800.
Moong dal moved down by Rs.200 per quintal to Rs.10,000 and thoor dal by Rs.100 per quintal to Rs.8,700 compared to the previous closing rates.
Following are the wholesale rates of various agri-commodities (in Rs per quintal, except where stated otherwise): Thoor dal Rs 8,700; urad dal Rs 8,400; moong dal Rs 10,000; gram dal Rs 4,500; sugar Rs 3,000; wheat Rs 2,800; maida (90 kg) Rs 2,500 and sooji (90 kg) Rs 2,900.
