A mixed pattern of trading prevailed at the wholesale sugar market in the national capital today with prices of spot sugar rising on the back of pick up in demand from retailers.
However, prices in the mill segment dropped following supply pressure amid scattered buying by stockists and bulk consumers.
Marketmen said pick up in retailers demand ahead of "Holi" mainly led to rise in sugar spot prices.
Sugar spot M-30 and S-30 prices were up by Rs 20 each to end at Rs 3,520-3,620 and Rs 3,510-3,610 per quintal.
On the other hand, mill delivery M-30 and S-30 prices slipped by Rs 40 from Rs 3,240-3,300 and Rs 3,230-3,290 to close at Rs 3,200-3,300 and Rs 3,190-3,290 per quintal.
In the millgate section, sugar Chandpur moved down by Rs 40 to Rs 3,200, while Khatuli lost Rs 30 at Rs 3,260 per quintal.
