Mizoram budget passed, assembly adjourned sine die

Mizoram's Rs 8,038.39 crore budget for 2016-2017 presented by state Finance Minister Lalsawta on March 17 was passed by the assembly late last night and the House adjourned sine die by Speaker Hiphei this evening.
The budget session had commenced on March 15 and the supplementary demands for the current financial year amounting to Rs 1,126.99 crore was earlier passed by the assembly.
Mizoram governor Lt General Nirbhay Sharma delivered his first customary gubernatorial address on the first day of the session, which also passed two amendment bills.
Another bill 'The Mizoram Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Bill, 2016', which was introduced in the legislature by Land Revenue and Settlement Minister R Romawia today was handed over to the Select Committee.
