Mizoram Govt, JICA ink Memorandum of Co-op on sustainable

Mizoram government and Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) today inked a Memorandum of Cooperation called 'Record of Discussions' on 'Capacity enhancement for sustainable Agriculture and Irrigation Development in Mizoram', an official statement said.
The Memorandum of Cooperation was signed by the state Chief Secretary Lalmalsawma on behalf of the Mizoram government and Chief Representative of JICA India Office, Takema Sakomoto, the statement said.
Japanese agriculture experts have conducted study on development and management of land and water resources for sustainable agriculture in Mizoram since 2013 and their findings would be utilised for improvement of agriculture and irrigation activities.
The study was meant for increase in agriculture outputs by utilisation of improved methods.
The scientists have selected Bilkhawthlir, Serchhip, Aibawk and Champhai areas for the pilot project, the statement added.
