Mizoram receives Rs 14.72 crore for construction of High Court

Mizoram Law and Judicial Minister Lalsawta today informed the assembly that the state government had received Rs 14.72 crore as first instalment for construction of a full-fledged High Court in Aizawl.
Replying to a query from Dr K Beichhua of the Mizo National Front (MNF), Lalsawta said that the fund for construction of the High Court building was received from the Ministry of Development of North East Region (DoNER) under the Non-Lapsable Central Pool of Resources (NLCPR).
The construction work would commence very soon, he added.
Foundation stone for the construction of the High Court building was jointly laid by state Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla and Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court Justice Ajit Singh on March four last at the New Secretariat area in Aizawl.
