India will be represented by Minister of State for External Affairs M J Akbar at the G20 foreign ministers meeting in Bonn beginning tomorrow which is expected to deliberate on climate change, migration and issues relating to global economy.
External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Vikas Swarup said Akbar will attend the meet at the German city.
The focus of the conclave will be also on relations between Trump administration and Russia as it may offer indication of direction the US will take over the next four years on various key issues.
External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj had undergone a kidney transplant in December and doctors treating her had advised her to restrict her official engagements.
Replying to a question on possibility of Nepal holding elections without fixing provincial boundaries as demanded by the Madhesi community, Swarup only said India has never been "prescriptive" in its ties with the Himalayan nation.
"Our consistent position has been that peace, stability and progress is in the interest of both India and Nepal. India has been supportive of the initiative of the Nepalese government to meet aspirations of all sections of the society.
"We hope that all sides will continue to engage closely for a successful conclusion of the ongoing efforts," he said.
He was asked to comment on a Maoist leader's recent remarks here that Nepal was going ahead with the polls without finalising the provincial boundaries.
