Admitting the petition by A.Srinivasan, also a retired Tamil Professor, Justice T.S.Sivagnanam directed him to implead the six other accused as respondents.
He submitted that he was attacked by two identifiable persons with deadly weapons on May 16 last while returning home. He suffered fracture in the hands and was admitted to hospital and he even lost his ability to write.
Police registered a case against seven persons, including Vice-Chancellor Kalyani Mathivanan, under various IPC sections, including 307 (attempt to murder).
Other accused are MKU Registrar Muthumanickam, Youth Welfare Department Head Chelladurai, PRO Arivazhagan and S.V.K.Selvaraj, a retired employee, and a close aide of the VC, he said.

Except those who attacked him directly, the others had not obtained even anticipatory bail though they had been arraigned as accused in the case.
The local police inspector had not conducted the investigation properly. The inspector, he understood, was planning to close the FIR against others and file a case only against the two persons who attacked him. He was having nexus with the accused one to five, the petitioner alleged.
