MLA Jetha Bharwad elected as first vice chairman of GCMMF

Chairman of Panchmahal Dairy and senior BJP MLA Jetha Bharwad was today unanimously elected as the first vice chairman of Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF) that sells its dairy products under brand name 'Amul'.
Since its inception in 1973, this is for the first time when GCMMF created the post of vice-chairman by amending their by-laws recently.
Bharwad, MLA from Sehra constituency of Panchmahal district, became the first vice chairman of this prestigious cooperative institution.
The election was conducted today by the Prant Officer BS Patel in presence of chairman of all the 17 member unions, who represented their district milk unions in the state.
During the election held here today, Bharwad's nomination was proposed by Rajkot Dairy's chairman Govind Ranpariya and supported by the chairman of Sarhad dairy in Kutch Valji Umbad.
Chairman of the Sabarkantha District Cooperative Milk Producers Union (Sabar Dairy) Jethabhai Patel is currently the the chariman of GCMMF.
GCMMF is considered as India's largest food products marketing organisation with annual turnover of Rs 21,000 crore.
The member unions of GCMMF procure an average of 160 lac litres of milk everyday from 36 lac milk producers in 18,000 villages of the state.
