Nath (33), who surfaced in the state capital yesterday after a one-month absence, has confessed that she has entered into a second marriage without divorcing her first husband and has also coverted to Islam.

The MLA, who was first elected to the Assembly in 2006 on a BJP ticket from Borkhola constituency of Barak Valley and later defected to the Congress, has changed her name to Rabia Sultana after her second marriage.

Santanu Naik, general secretary of the advocates' body Akhil Bharatiya Adhivakta Parishad, demanded the MLA's expulsion from the Assembly.

The MLA defended her action by telling a Guwahati-based TV channel, "I am not committing any crime. I have no fear and am ready to face every situation."
