Khaunte's demand comes in the backdrop of Goa Tourism department's decision to discontinue the contract with the beach-cleaning firms, which apparently are mired in controversies.
"Rather than discontinuing the contract, the State Tourism department should blacklist the contractor whose two firms were assigned the work to clean the beaches," Khaunte told reporters here.
The Porvorim MLA had raised the issue of beach cleanliness contract in the last session of the state Assembly and had filed a formal complaint with the state Lokayukta.
"The state-level monitoring committee headed by Tourism Minister Dilip Parulekar by cancelling the contract has raised more doubts about possible back-door entry of the companies into the same contract or any other state government projects," the MLA added.
He further demanded Rs 14 crore paid to the contractor should be recovered by the state government for failing to execute the terms of the agreement.
