Former chief minister and MNF chief Zoramthanga and other top party leaders including Lalbiakdiki, widow of Laldenga laid wreaths at his tomb in Treasury Square in Aizawl this morning.
Laldenga launched his secessionist movement in 1966 and fought the might of the Indian government for 20 years before signing a historic peace accord with the Centre on June 30, 1986.
He was installed as chief minister in the interim government in 1986 and the MNF party won the 1987 state assembly polls after which Laldenga became the first state chief minister.
He died in London on July seven, 1990 at the age of 63, while returning from New York where he took cancer treatment.
