Opposition Mizo National Front (MNF) workers today held a rally near the state assembly causing injury to some people after scuffle with the police who tried to stop the workers from proceeding towards the assembly house where the legislators were in session.
The MNF youth members, who participated in the rally, adopted resolutions which included the demand for the resignation of the Congress government led by Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla for failure to provide good roads to the people even after the onset of dry season.
The opposition youth members alleged Lal Thanhawla refused to give replies to the supplementary questions raised by MNF member Lalruatkima on Tuesday.
The MNF accused the Chief Minister of high handedness having scant respect for the elected representatives, harming decorum of the legislature and thus showing disrespect to the people of the state.
Lal Thanhawla snubbed Lalruatkima by refusing to give replies to his supplementary about the repeated collapse of a bailey bridge constructed in the road between Aizawl and the lone Lengpui airport.
They also accused Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister John Rotluangliana of indulging in favouritism in the procurement of rice through the state government-owned MIZOFED which used individuals and also demanded Rotluangliana's resignation.
