Mungantiwar has already declared that sanitary napkins made by women self-help groups will get exemption.
However, Thackeray today submitted a memorandum to the minister seeking exemption for all India-made sanitary napkins from the new taxation regime.
The government conveniently only focused on self-help groups while avoiding the larger issue of taxing of sanitary napkins, the MNS leader said.
Sources in Mungantiwar's office said that he had written to the union finance minister some days ago, requesting exemption for the Indian manufacturers of sanitary napkins from GST, and a fresh letter will be sent to pursue the matter.
