Mob blocks road, beats up medical officer

An angry mob today beat up the medical officer of a government-run Community Health Centre (CHC) and resorted to rasta roko in Rajnagar alleging negligence in treatment leading to death of a baby, police said.
Security has been stepped up at the hospital premises with deployment of a section of armed police forces.
The mob locked up the medical officer, Rajnagar CHC, Bhakti Ranjan Pattnaik and later beat him up.
The road was blocked for over two hours paralyzing the vehicular traffic to the block headquarters.
Inspector Rajnagar police station, Biranchi Bag said police have registered two separate cases both against the doctor and the relatives of the deceased child. Police are keeping close watch on the situation.
