The Women's Reservation Bill, that sought to reserve 33 per cent seats in Lok Sabha and state assemblies for women, had been passed by the Rajya Sabha in 2010 but could not be taken up for discussion in the lower house. The bill lapsed after the dissolution of the 15th Lok Sabha in 2014.
"... The women's reservation bill in India that was drafted with the objective of empowering both legislative houses with higher female participation. We feel that this will be instrumental in increasing the share of women in policy decision making and ensuring a better India for women," MobiKwik co-founder and director Upasana Taku wrote.
Taku said MobiKwik has pledged to contribute to the empowerment of women in India, particularly housewives in urban and rural India.
"We are happy to inform you that the inspiration for our effort comes from the stories and visuals of your beloved mother Hiraba Modi going to the bank for transacting her own business," she said.
Taku added that the company has also started many initiatives in urban and rural India with the objective of educating and empowering women.
