Mobile telephony went out of order this morning as part of the security drill started in 2006.
Militants in August 2005 had triggered an IED outside Bakshi Stadium, the main venue for Independence Day celebrations in Jammu and Kashmir, leading to the practice of suspending mobile phone services on this day.
A senior police official said mobile phone services will be restored soon after celebrations at Bakshi Stadium conclude.
Meanwhile, mobile Internet services remained suspended for the fifth day today.
Mobile Internet services were snapped to prevent people from spreading false rumours about the situation in the riot-hit town.
