Model of Patel's 'Statue of Unity' to be ready by Oct: Artist

A 30-feet model for the proposed grand statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, to be known as the 'Statue of Unity', would be completed by October this year, the artist entrusted with the task has said.
"The model for the proposed 522-feet tall statue of the 'Lauh Purush' would be 30-feet tall. On the basis of the model the statue would be raised," famous sculptor Ram Vanji Sutar told PTI.
The proposed statue of India's first Deputy Prime Minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel is Prime Minister Narendra Modi's brainchild.
Sutar said he was contacted by L&T company three months back to construct the bronze-model.

"We have started the work. Our aim is to handover the model to the company by October this year," said the Padma Shri awardee artist.
The 90-year-old artist is working on the model at his Noida studio with his son Anil Kumar.
Sutar said he considers his contribution in the making of the world's tallest statue as his life's biggest achievement.
