The quake, felt this evening in several areas, measured 5.3 on the Richter scale, according to Dawn news.
The epicentre of the earthquake was at the border of Afghanistan and Tajikistan, the meteorological department said.
Earthquake jolts were felt in Peshawar, Abbotabad, Mansehra, Swat, Malakand, Mardan, Sargodha, Charsadda, lower Dir and Khyber agency of the tribal belt as also in areas of Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK).
The quake also shook the Kashmir Valley though there were no reports of any damage or casualties.
On October 8, 2005, a devastating earthquake flattened vast swathes of PoK and many hamlets in the Valley along the LoC, killing thousands of people. PTI
