Moderate rainfall in some partsof HP, landslide blocks road

Moderate rainfall occurred in a few places in Himachal Pradesh even as a massive landslide at Chaura on Hindustan-Tibet National Highway, 170 Km from here, blocked the road for nearly 12 hours.
A huge rock slipped near Chaura and the highway was completely blocked in the wee hours of the day, cutting of Kinnaur and Kaza areas butthe blockade was removed by Authorities and normalcy was restored in the afternoon, officials said.
A large number of vehicles remained stranded on either side of the blockade and people faced inconvenience.
Vegetable, fruits, milk, bread, newspapers and other commodities reached Kinnaur late in the evening.

Meanwhile Jogindernagar and Kasauli were the wettest places in the region with 47 mm rains, followed by Jubbarhatti 44 mm, Naina Devi 31 mm, Saluni and Jubbal 17 mm, Dharampur 14, Kangra and Manali 13 mm , Kahu 12 mm , Amb and Paonta Sahib 11 mm, Mashobra and Bharmaur 10 mm, Dalhousie 9 mm, Dharamsala andArki 7 mm.
Maximum temperatures fluctuated marginally and Una was the hottestwith a high of 32.2 degrees Celsius, followed by Sundernagar 30 degrees Celsius, Dharamshala 29.4 degrees Celsius, Nahan 28.7 degrees Celsius, Bhuntar 28.5 degrees Celsius, Solan 27.5 degrees Celsius, Shimla 22.6 degrees Celsius and Kalpa 21.6 degrees Celsius andManali 20 degrees Celsius.

There was no significant change in minimum temperatures and Keylong and Kalpa recorded a low of 11.6 degrees Celsius and 12.0 degrees Celsius, followed by Manali 13.6 degrees Celsius, Shimla and Dharamsala 16.2 degrees Celsius, Chamba 18.0 degrees Celsius, Bhuntar and Palampur 19.0 degrees Celsius, Solan 19.5 degrees Celsius, Nahan 20.2 degrees Celsius, Sundernagar 21.9 degrees Celsius and Una 23.8 degrees Celsius.
The local MeT office has predicted rains and thundershowers at isolated places in mid and lower hills from tomorrow onwards.
