Moderate to heavy snowfall in higher reaches of Himachal

Mercury dropped by few notches in most parts of Himachal Pradesh as high altitude tribal areas and other higher hills received moderate to heavy snowfall while the mid hills were lashed by rains.
The high altitude tribal areas and other higher reaches in Himachal received fresh snowfall and widespread rains accompanied by high velocity winds and sleet lashed the mid andhigher hills.
Keylong in tribal Lahaul and Spiti district, Rohtang, Kunzam, Chansel and Saach and other high mountain ranges received 25 cm to 50 cm of snow while adjoining higher and mid hills were lashed by moderate to heavy rains, accompanied by strong winds.
The sky remained heavily overcast and intermittent rains and snowfall is still continuing and the local MeT office has predicted heavy rains or snow at isolated places tomorrow.
The state capital Shimla and adjoining areas which were lashed by rains sleet, received 20 mm of rains while Kandaghat was wettest in the region with 47 mm rains while Manali and Tissa had 42 mm and 35 mm rains, followed by Bhuntar 33, Kalpa 29 mm, Gohar 25 mm,Jogindernagar 21 mm ,Dharamshala 18 mm, Mashobra and Rekong Peo 17 mm, Jubbal, Banjar and Dalhousie 16 mm and Rohru 15 mm.
The day temperatures dropped marginally and Nahan was hottest during the day with a high of 26 degree, followed by Solan 23 degree, Shimla and Dharamsala 17.2 degree, Sundernagar 16.4 degree, Bhuntar 15 degree and Kalpa 8.6 degree Celsius.
There was no significant change in minimum temperatures and Keylong was coldest in the region with a low of minus 0.3 degree Celsius, while Kalpa recorded minimum temperature at 1 degree, followed by Dharamsala 7. 8 degree, Shimla 8.4 degree, Bhuntar 9.4 degree, Palampur 10 degree, Solan 10.5 degree, Sundernagar 11.3 degree, Una 14 degree and Nahan 14. 7 degree Celsius.
