"It was a good speech because he addressed problems in a practical way, did not make tall claims, but suggested a feasible national agenda laced with humility, modesty and national concerns.
"His fundamentals were correct," said D P Tripathi, NCP general secretary and party spokesperson who was one of the opposition leaders who attended the Independence Day address at the Red Fort.
He said he had earlier attended Independence Day celebration and speeches addressed by Rajiv Gandhi and A B Vajpayee.
