Terming two years of Narendra Modi government as a failure, Congress today alleged that the country was facing growing unemployment, high inflation, corruption and mis-governance as BJP's pre-poll promises turned out to be hollow.
"The BJP-led NDA government has failed to boost the economy and accelerate growth. It had promised to provide two crore jobs per year. By this count 4 crore jobs should have been created by now," AICC spokesperson Sushmita Dev told reporters here.
However, as per the official data of Labour Ministry, only 1,34,000 jobs had been created during the last two years, which happened to be the slowest pace of job creation since 2009, she said.
Mounting a scathing attack on NDA for being "unable" to fulfil its promises like bringing Lok Pal and retrieving black money stashed abroad, Dev claimed that corruption was rampant in BJP-ruled states including Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra.
She further alleged that the Vyapam scam in which more than 76 lakh people were duped in Madhya Pradesh, people saw Rs 36,000 crore PDS scam in Chhattisgarh, Rs 43,000 crore mining scam in Rajasthan and Rs 206 crore Chikki scam in Maharashtra.
Accusing Modi government of helping corporates and big business houses at the cost of people, the MP from Silchar in Assam said BJP regime allowed alleged defaulters like Vijay Mallya and Lalit Modi to leave the country.
Though the NDA government claimed about 7.5 per cent economic growth, economists pointed out that it was only about 5 per cent, she said, adding that farmers paid a heavy price for electing BJP which remained insensitive to their plight.

Though the country faced severe drought, the Modi government failed to take concrete steps to tackle it and as a result many farmers were forced to commit suicide in different parts of the country, Dev said, accusing BJP of going back on its promises on minimum support price (MSP).
Hitting out at NDA over foreign policy, she said foreign policy remained inconsistent and illogical as the government remained "inept and incompetent."
While Pakistan was alienated and diplomatically isolated between 2004 and 2914 due to the then Gongress government's efforts at international fora, Modi regime had derailed all efforts, the Congress leader said adding there was now imbalance in India-China relationship.
The country also witnessed gross misuse of power in Uttarakhand and Arunachal Pradesh during Modi government which functioned in an autocratic way, she claimed.
