Modi govt trying to save 1984 anti-Sikh riot accused: AAP

Senior AAP leader H S Phoolka today alleged that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government and SAD of trying to save those accused, including Congress leader Jagdish Tytler, in the 1984 anti-Sikh riot case.
"There are clear indications that on the pattern of Congress the Modi-led government is also trying hard to save the accused Congress leader Jagdish Tytler and others," he alleged.
It is evident from the last two-years of the NDA government that it is "deliberately delaying" investigations in the case against the accused involved in the "massacre of Sikhs", he said.
"In December 2015, the Supreme Court had instructed the CBI to complete the investigations within two-months. However, instead of acting on the instructions of the apex court, the Modi government not only delayed investigations but has recently demanded an extra four months time," he alleged.

"Eyeing the Punjab elections the BJP and SAD do not want to take-up cases against the accused and take it to its logical conclusion," he said.
Training his gun on Punjab Congress chief Amarinder Singh, he alleged, "To get himself declared as the Congress' chief ministerial candidate in Punjab and to continue as Punjab Congress chief, he is busy distributing clean chits to the key accused of the 1984 anti-Sikhs riots, Jagdish Tytler and Kamal Nath."

"Had the accused of the 1984 riots been given exemplary punishment at an appropriate time, nobody could have dared to engineer such riots in any part of the country, which takes place so often now," Phoolka claimed.

Meanwhile, AAP leader Kanwar Sandhu demanded all the closed cases pertaining to the 1984 anti-Sikhs riots to be "re-opened and re-investigated".
"Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal should be given all rights to open and get all the cases investigated," he said.
"AAP assures the nation that all cases will be taken to its logical conclusion within six months, if the Delhi government is allowed to re-open and re-investigate them," Sandhu claimed.
Although the Modi government had constituted a Special Investigating Team (SIT) in 2015 to probe the 1984 riot cases, not take a single step has been taken to deliver justice to the victims, he claimed.

The AAP has decided to sit on a one-day hunger strike in front of Gurudwara Shri Amb Sahib in Mohali tomorrow on the issue, he added.
On the Satluj-Yamuna Link (SYL) Canal issue, the AAP leaders alleged that both Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and Amarinder have "committed fraud" with the people of Punjab.
The AAP leaders alleged, "In the presence of union minister Arun Jaitley and BJP National President Amit Shah, Badal declared Punjab would not accept any order of the Supreme Court against it on SYL."
"While, Amarinder has declared that he and all Congress MLAs would resign in case of an adverse order by the Supreme Court on the issue," they added.

"Whom are they trying to fool. If Amarinder would have been serious on the SYL issue, he should have resigned as CM, when Congress-led UPA government referred the issue to Supreme Court for presidential reference," the AAP leaders said.
He added even Badal was shedding "crocodile tears" on the SYL issue, as he should have opted out of NDA, when Solicitor General of India took an anti-Punjab stand in Supreme Court on SYL.
