Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar today said the implementation of Narendra Modi's demonetisation drive was not appropriate.
"There had never been such a situation in independent India following currency change. The implementation of demonetisation was inappropriate," he told a CPI(M) gathering here.
About Trinamool Congress supremo and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's appeal to Sitaram Yechury for a joint fight against the decision of Modi government, Sarkar, a CPI(M) Politburo member, said any future strategy in this regard will be taken in consultation with the state CPI(M) unit.
Referring to Tripura he said people of the state were similarly inconvenienced like the rest of the country in the wake of the November 8 announcement.
The CPI(M)-led government in Tripura was holding series of talks with banks to solve the crisis, he said, adding the banks were located long distance away from one another in the state.
