"A tea seller has become a Prime Minister, whose suit is bringing crores of rupees and Congress, which is serving for the capitalists, could not digest it. They are wondering how could this happen. They are rattled," Bharti told reporters on the sidelines of a public art innovation event here.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi's pinstripe monogrammed suit was auctioned for Rs 4.31 crore in Surat, a few days back.
"I think the biggest problem of the opposition, especially for the Congress is that these things can be reserved only for the Nehru-Gandhi family," the Water Resources Minister replied to a query on the opposition's criticism to the auction.
However, Bharti parried questions on the Vyapam scam, on which Congress has raised allegations against Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
Bharti also said that the cleaning of Ganga has been going on for the last 29 years and its is not like preparing "two-minute noodles".
On pollution in the river, she said steps are being taken to upgrade Sewerage Treatment Plants.
