The opening ceremony of the new Dickoya base hospital will be held during Prime Minister Modi's visit to Sri Lanka to take part in the celebrations marking the UN 'Vesak Day'. State Minister of Education V Radhakrishnan said.
The hospital complex at Dickoya, in the central Nuwara Eliya district has been built with assistance from India.
The establishment of a new hospital in the Central Province in Sri Lanka will augment the facilities in the existing hospital and provide health services to a large number of people of Indian-origin living in this area.
Modi will attend a special gathering of the plantation community at the Norwood Ground, after the opening of the Dikoya base hospital, Radhakrishnan said.
Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe will also attend the ceremony.
Modi will make his second visit to Sri Lanka next month to take part in the celebrations marking the UN 'Vesak Day', the most important in the Buddhist calendar, to be held here from May 12 to 14.
