The Vigilance department of Delhi government has sought details from the chief district medical officers on the functioning of mohalla clinics, following the complaints of alleged irregularities.
Sources said that based on the complaints, the department recently wrote to all Chief District Medical Officers (CDMOs) seeking their reply on the various issues, including amount of money being paid to the consultant doctors and rent for a few mohalla clinics.
The AAP dispensation's mohalla clinic project, aimed at providing free health-care facility to the city residents closer to their home, has received global recognition.
The project received praise from the leaders, including former UN General Secretary Kofi Annan, and one of the oldest medical journals in the world - The Lancet of the UK.
"Vigilance department has sought details from the Health Department on alleged irregularities after it received numbers of complaints about the functioning of Mohalla clinics," sources said.
In the complaints, it was alleged that private doctors, who are paid Rs 30 for attending a patient, were "fudging" their numbers. Also, they were "unnecessarily" calling the patients to the clinics repeatedly to increase their numbers.
This is the second time Vigilance Department has sought the details after it was not "satisfied" with the initial response of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), few months ago.
In its reply, the DGHS had refuted all the allegations levelled in the number of complaints received by Vigilance Department.
In response to the allegation that doctors were allegedly making patients come again and again just to make money from visits, the DGHS had termed it as "false".

There are around 110 mohalla clinics across the national capital and out of which, 100 are running in rented premises.
The Arvind Kejriwal government has set a target of setting up 1,000 mohalla clinics by the end of this year.
Public Works Department (PWD) has been given the task to set up mohalla clinics.
