Filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker's upcoming action-romance saga "Mohenjo Daro" has been selected as the closing film at the 69th Locarno International Film Festival.
The movie, starring Hrithik Roshan and debutant Pooja Hegde, will be screened at Piazza Grande on August 13, which is the last day of the festival.
Gowariker's Aamir Khan-starrer "Lagaan" was also screened at Locarno International Film Festival and this is the second time the director will attend the prestigious movie carnival.
"When 'Lagaan' was screened at the same Piazza, on a giant screen, one of the biggest in the world, it was an out-of-the-world experience to see an audience of 8000 plus of different nationalities, applaud the film. I am looking forward to Locarno this time with 'Mohenjo Daro'," Gowariker said in a statement.
The film is set in the prehistoric Indus Valley and is about a young indigo farmer, Sarman (Hrithik), who comes to Mohenjo Daro and uncovers secrets of the city and his own past. Hegde plays the love interest, Chaani, the daughter of a priest.
The movie has been produced by Siddharth Roy Kapur and Sunita Gowariker and is set to release on August 12.
"We are thrilled that the film will be showcased to the European audience as part of the Closing Day gala," Amrita Pandey, VP-Studios, Disney India, added.
