Six members of a family allegedly committed suicide in Chakrayapet mandal here apparently due to financial problems, police said today.
Y C Miravali (45) along with his wife and four children ended their life by consuming poison at a room of a state-run tourism guest house in Gandi area last night, they said.
According to Pulivendula (Rural) Circle Inspector Maheshwar Reddy, the family was staying at the guest house since July 1 evening. As they did not turn up for lunch this afternoon, the staff of the guest house grew suspicious and opened the door of the room and found them dead.
"It is suspected that Miravali and his family members committed suicide by consuming some poisonous substance. Based on preliminary investigation, it is suspected that financial problems drove the family to the extreme step," the police officer said, adding, further investigations are underway.
