A moneylender allegedlyassaulted the headmistress of a private pre-school here for not paying dues on time, footage of which has gone viral on social media.
The footage of the incident, which occurred yesterday, was captured by a CCTV camera installed in her cabin.
Police said Ramakrishnappa went to the school at around 2.00 PM yesterday when most children and teachers had left, to demand money from Headmistress Asha, who also runs the institution.
One or two children were in the room next to that of the headmistress, they said.
The video shows Ramakrishnappa purportedly arguing with the headmistress, suddenly beating her, pulling out a rope from his pocket and charging at her.
Asha said she had taken Rs 70,000 loan from him at 10 per cent interest rate. She had been prompt in repayments every month, but could not do so for the last four months due to some personal problems and asked him for more time.
Ramkakrishnappa kept calling her continuously for the last two weeks, demanding repayment and using foul language, she said.
"Yesterday afternoon he came to the schooldemanding money and started beating me.He then pulled outa rope used to tie animals from his pocket and charged at me, despite my pleading for mercy," she said.
Asha said he even took her cellphone and did not allow her to go out.
Police said Ramakrishnappa was absconding and they were on the lookout for him.
