Concerned over the slow progress of flyover construction and other projects here, Uttarakhand Governor K K Paul today initiated a high level monitoring panel to speed up their implementation.
Aproject management committee, chaired by the Additional Chief Secretary, has been set up by the Governor to monitor three under-construction flyovers in Dehradun and the ADB project, an official release here said.
The decision to constitute the panel came after the Governor inspected Balliwala, Ballupur and ISBT flyovers and Asian Development Bank (ADB) works in the city, following which he held a meeting at the secretariat with officials concerned.
He asked them to ensure public safety aspect in construction of flyovers, at all cost.
The committee will inspect the flyovers and ADB projects every week and give a report to the Governor.
Paul said public safety was most important and carelessness in this matter will not be tolerated.
Third party laboratory quality tests must be conducted, the Governor said, adding the work should not lose pace due to lack of building material or labour.
