"It is officially declared that monsoon arrived in Jharkhand today, covering South, east and central of Jharkhand with the rest parts expected to be covered within the next 38 hours," G K Mohanty, Director of Met office here, said.
Stating that the pre-monsoon showers arrived late this time with the state experiencing it only yesterday and day before, Mohanty said conditions were favourable to cover the entire state.
Ranchi registered 42.5 ml rainfall till sunset.
The onset of monsoon has brought relief to the people after several districts registered temperatures between 40 degree Celsius and 48 degree Celsius for over a month.
