The first day of monsoon session of Uttar Pradesh Legislature began on a stormy note today as Opposition parties protested against the Mathura clashes and the Bulandshahr rape incident, disrupting proceedings in the Upper House.
As soon as the Upper House assembled, members of BSP, BJP, teachers' group, RLD and some Independents trooped into the Well and raised slogans displaying banners against the state government.
They were agitated over the law and order situation in the state, including the Bulandshahr rape incident and Mathura clashes, among other issues.
Amid noisy scenes, the House was first adjourned for 15 minutes and then till noon.
When the House reassembled, Chairman Ramesh Yadav read out condolence messages paying tributes to former members, including Munna Singh Chauhan, Raj Kishore Mishra and Radhey Shyam Nishad.
Hardly had he completed the obituary reference, Opposition members once again stormed into the Well and raised anti-government slogans.
