According to the IMD bulletin declaring the onset of monsoon, conditions are favourable for its further advance in the next two days, bringing fairly good rains in the region.
The south-west monsoon further advanced into entire south Arabian sea, some parts of central Arabian sea, entire Kerala, some parts of coastal and south interior Karnataka and most parts of Tamil Nadu, the bulletin said.
IMD sources said the monsoon onset this year matched the forecast of its arrival in Kerala and Lakshadweep by June 1 and the favourbale conditions have been building up in the last few days.
According to IMD, westerly/south-westerly winds 40 to 50 kmph were observed in the South Arabian sea.
