Monsoon weakens, mercury rising in Rajasthan

Barring a few places, Southwest monsoon has further weakened and mercury shot up at most places in Rajasthan today with Gangangar recording the maximum temperature of 40.6 degrees Celsius.
Rains occurred at a few places in Jodhpur, Ajmer, and Udaipur divisions with Karikal and Ramsar recorded the maximum rainfall of 30 mm each during last 24 hours, MeT office said.
Rest of the state observed hot and humid weather as the mercury shot up due to dry weather conditions, it said.
Churu recorded a maximum temperature of 40.4 degrees C, Bikaner 40 degrees C, Jaisalmer 38.9 degrees C, Barmer 38.5 degrees C, and Jaipur 37.2 degrees C.
MeT office, in a forecast, said dry weather conditions may prevail in the state barring a few places while north-southern areas may get showers.
