Moral policing: shop owner assaulted
Press Trust of India Mangalore In a suspected case of moral policing, a 10-member group allegedly attacked a photo studio in the city today and threatened to kill its owner for talking with a girl belonging to a minority community, police said.
Raghavendra Achar, 38, who runs the studio at Hampankatte in the heart of the city, bore the brunt of the ire of the activist group. The girl had gone to the shop to edit a photo, police said.
Achar told the police that group looted Rs 50,000 from the studio, ransacked it besides assaulting and threatening to kill him.
He has been admitted to the government hospital.
Mangalore North police has registered a case and are on the look out for the culprits, police said.
