National Commission for Women Chairperson Rekha Sharma said today that more facilities are required for woman inmates in the jails of Haryana.
She also said the commission had prepared a proforma which would be sent to all the DG prisons of the country to assess the problems of woman inmates.
After visiting the Ambala Central Jail, Sharma told mediapersons that there were no open jails for woman prisoners which some states have.
Sharma said she had given a suggestion to DG, Prisons, Haryana, in this regard.
Sharma met some of the women inmates of Ambala jail and found that the jail authorities had provided many facilities to woman prisoners but no counsellors were available.
There was no arrangement of any yoga class which could help reduce stress levels of the inmates, she said.

Honeypreet is lodged in judicial custody after her arrest earlier in October in connection with the violence post the Dera chief's conviction.

Sharma said that number of Nari Niketans is also not sufficient in the state.
