Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi today said there was more violence and fear in Naxal-affected BJP-ruled Chhattisgarh than in Jammu and Kashmir.
"BJP talks about combating terrorism. (But) more fear and more violence are in Chhattisgarh than in any other state. I had been to Jammu and Kashmir recently. The violence and fear is more here," said Rahul, addressing election campaign rally here this evening.
Accusing the BJP government of not taking action against Naxalism, he said violence prevents development.
"Congress leaders were killed in the Naxal attack (in Bastar) but nothing has been done so far....Somebody tell them (BJP) that this is the state which is worst hit by violence. They talk about development but where there is violence and fear, development can't take place," Rahul said.
He also said natural resources of the state belong to the women, youth and people of the state, not the "ministers".
"They talk about the development but can't they see the atrocities on women and tribals, corruption, and one-sided development?"
Listing UPA's achievements, Rahul praised the legislations such as Right to Information Act, Right to Education Act, Food Security bill, land acquisition bills, which were brought by the Congress-led Central government.
