More and more people should be persuaded to donate organs, Railway Minister Piyush Goyal said on Monday while on a visit to a rail hospital here.
Inspecting the Northern Railway Central Hospital, he said awareness about organ donation should be created in the country.
"More and more people should be persuaded to donate their organs and their bodies. Counselling sessions can be arranged to create awareness about the significance of this noble work," Goyal said.
He also directed the railway administration to prepare a comprehensive plan for upgrading all railway hospitals across the country to the level of the best medical facilities in the country.
The minister also asked railway doctors to visit some outstanding hospitals both in the corporate and government sector to gain first-hand experience about how things work there.
Goyal instructed officials to conduct on the spot study of these facilities and replicate their best features in railway hospitals in a time-bound manner.
