Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) chief Mangu Singh said he was expecting a jump in the number of passengers on the airport line, currently ferrying around 43,000 people daily, once its Pink Line was launched.
He said this at the launch of Vistara's check-in facility at the New Delhi metro station. Air India and Jet Airways already have check-in facilities at the New Delhi and Shivaji Stadium stations.
It was announced at the launch, also attended by Air India CMD Ashwani Lohani, that two lakh passengers had made use of the baggage check-in facilities at these two stations since the DMRC took over the operations of the Airport Express Line in July 2013.
"The baggage check-in by Air India and Jet Airways, which used to see around 40-50 check-ins per day earlier, touched an all time high of around 500 per day in June. This is an increase of almost ten times," the DMRC said in a statement.
